The 8029 is compatible to the NE2000. If you get your card to work under Linux, you should see it there. If it does not show up, the driver could be loaded as module. Try 'lsmod' to view all loaded modules. Please give exact information about your (if working) Linux config. I don't know if ISA NE2000 wurks with the Hurd. Perhaps someone can give more exact information about NE2000 drivers status. For my understanding, the NE2000 is verry common, so there should be quite some practical experience.
