Yes, this was one of those packages where I had to make a decision as to whether or not to include it since it's so outdated (the cpio it provides is ancient also). Since it builds and installs properly, which can't be said for all old packages, I opted to include it since it's still an official package. But yeah, it's probably not very usable. I'm almost done adding gnu packages, leaving me with just the broken ones and those that haven't seen a proper release yet. Now I intend to start providing a much longer descriptive blurb for each package, viewable with the "pkg-info" target, which will include relevant information, such as what you describe here (i.e. the "paxutils" package long description would end with a warning that it is quite outdated and is, for now, and that there are more appropriate replacements). Supposedly tar and cpio will be merged back into paxutils. Supposedly, as of 10 years ago. -brandon
