Strings of the form %FOO% in cmd.exe commands are expanded iff FOO is an existing environment variable; otherwise, the string is left alone. All other uses of % are likewise left alone. This expansion is done *before* quotation marks are interpreted, so there is no way to escape it; you simply have to hope that you don't get hosed by it. -- We are lost, lost.
