I've noticed another problem with both mbsnwidth and my implementation: neither handles escape sequences. Should I add support for them as well since it is used in en@boldquot but isn't used in any other properly encoded translation on TP (it's present in 3 badly encoded old files though but they would result in incorrect output no matter what).
