Hmm, what are the practical implications of this? Sun stopped shipping Solaris 2.6 ten years ago, and stopped supporting it five years ago; if the original supplier no longer supports the OS, that's a good sign that we shouldn't support it either. Gnu software is not really intended for porting to museum pieces, and this includes museum pieces atop VMs hosted on modern hardware. At this point the oldest Solaris release that Oracle still supports is Solaris 8. It is scheduled to fall out of support after 2012-03-31; Solaris 9 is scheduled to fall out of support after 2014-10-30. I've been a fan of Solaris for many years, but I won't miss its obsolescent variants.
