Thanks. The configure runs produce results similar to Interix 3.5., which is already covered in gnulib's documentation. The "make" log that you sent compiled only one file and did not fail. I guess that was a second "make" run after the first "make" run failed. Anyway, now you reported that newer releases from ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/patch/ work fine.
