My impression is that libraries that want to work with C and C++, but don't, are very rare(*) and broken enough than it's worth fixing them rather than putting complex workarounds in gnulib. I would like to see more cases before considering it worthwhile. (*) Also consider how obscure was the reason for this particular failure! Paolo
