These two tests have been failing for a long time on systems with buggy
ungetc, but no one has been motivated enough to write a gnulib ungetc
replacement to work around the deficiencies in these old platforms (in
part because it is so easy to avoid the ungetc bug - never ungetc() a
character that you didn't previously read).
