Nelson H. F. Beebe gave me an off-list report of some build failures with
the latest m4 source code, where test-frexpl, test-isnanl, and
test-vasprintf-posix all failed on an Irix 6.5 host:

checking whether isnanl works... no
checking where to find the exponent in a 'long double'... word 0 bit 20

test-frexpl.c:94: assertion failed
/bin/ksh[10]: 681640 Abort(coredump)
FAIL: test-frexpl-nolibm
test-isnanl.h:67: assertion failed
/bin/ksh[10]: 691015 Abort(coredump)
FAIL: test-isnanl-nolibm
test-vasprintf-posix.c:564: assertion failed
/bin/ksh[10]: 691335 Abort(coredump)
FAIL: test-vasprintf-posix

All three of these lines are at a point trying to test a long double NaN,
two via 0.0L/0.0L and one via the test helper NaNl().
