I see; this explains why I could not reproduce the problem with the same compiler options that you mentioned, and had to apply some guessing. Thanks for your report and the insight that the error depends on the actual values being multiplied. The workaround is committed in gnulib now. You noticed also other anomalies of 'long double' on this MacOS X version? Bruno
