Not considering that I had no idea (yet) whether it was a question of misuse (autoconf-related issue), or a bug in AC_LIB_HAVE_LINKFLAGS's implementation. And while gnulib, as a whole, may require automake, the module regarding which I had a question does not. Posting to the list whose topic was the module with which I was having trouble seemed appropriate to me. Especially since gnulib was designed for people to grab just the code and/or documentation they need from it: my understanding is that it is more of a collection of code for various things, than a "library" per se. The fact that some /other/ code that is a part of gnulib, but which wget does not use, requires automake, does not appear particularly relevant, to me. Of course, the _answer_ to my problem, was pretty much an autoconf issue, and not specific to gnulib, but how was I to know that until I had my answer? :) - -- Micah J.
