As far as gethostname is concerned, I am not the author.
For poll, I have no opposition and the code is based on GNU Pth, which is under the LGPL. So the "real" original author would not be opposed. I don't know what's the licensing policy for gnulib modules, so Paul I'm afraid you have to make the final call. :-)
