Yes, you are right. Automake 1.9.4 works fine without those bits. However, automake 1.9.5 fails with the following diagnostics: autoreconf: running: automake --add-missing --copy --force-missing configure.ac:122: required file `lib/getdate.c' not found autoreconf: automake failed with exit status: 1 With them, automake 1.9.5 works fine.
