I don't know how to do that. On my system, uname -a says:

Linux eagle 6.8.0-90-generic #91-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Tue Nov 18 14:14:30
UTC 2025 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

So I'm running an OS that was released less than 3 months ago, and Synaptic,
which is my usual interface for managing package versions, thinks the currently
installed version of binutils (with objdump 2.42) is the most up-to-date one
and won't offer to upgrade it. I told it to reinstall the package, and it says
it did, but the version is still 2.42. Do I have to use apt-get or some other
workaround to install a more recent objdump than Synaptic thinks is
appropriate?
