Last time I was concerned with kpatch implications; at least for the recent (v6.10+) kernels they are obviated by having modules closer to vmlinux and everything being compiled with -fPIC. I still need to check whether kpatch does not break on older kernels with my GCC patch. So far I managed to experiment only with the recent kernels and found one issue inspired by this discussion (https://github.com/dynup/kpatch/issues/1437) - but this happens even with the unchanged GCC.
