We solved the file bloat issue with the mold linker by mapping the boundary page of two segments twice in the virtual address space instead of creating a gap in memory and on disk. LLVM lld employs the same technique to avoid file bloat when linking for larger page systems. I do not see a reason for GNU ld to not use the same technique.
