Maybe this is a problem with the nomenclature but aren't linker scripts that
get added on the command line without -T also "inserted scripts"? The
documentation does not indicate any such limitation for the non-T scripts but
rather that it simply amends the "main" linker script "Specifying a script in
this way merely augments the main linker script, with the extra commands placed
after the main script".

And the behavior w/o -T seems to be the same in regards of MEMORY so...
something is definitely not consistent here :)
