Recently the commit:

Author: Robert Yang <[email protected]>

which was applied to master fixed the problem described in
https://sourceware.org/ml/binutils/2018-08/msg00193.html
It was reviewed, modified, approved and applied by Nick Clifton here:
https://sourceware.org/ml/binutils/2018-08/msg00273.html
Since it affects the release 2.31 (I had the issue when using the release
branch), can you please backport it to branch 2.31 as well ?
