sample deb file
seen with ar from the 2.26 branch (deb files are archive files):
$ cp pkg-templ.deb pkg-mixed-1-member.deb
$ ar t pkg-mixed-1-member.deb
debian-binary
control.tar.gz
data.tar.gz
$ ar ra debian-binary pkg-mixed-1-member.deb unknown
$ ar t pkg-mixed-1-member.deb
ar: pkg-mixed-1-member.deb: Malformed archive
the original test case involves using dpkg-deb to create the sample deb file
