That is a shame as a way to reproduce the problem would really help.
/usr/bin/ld: BFD (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.22 assertion fail
2.22 is quite an old version of binutils. Version 2.25 is out now and it would be worth trying those sources or, even better, the current mainline development sources, so see if the problem has already been fixed.
