I don't think we need to special-case native or cross.

Indeed there is! For some reason I was under the impression that they behave
the same, but they don't. It turns out that "-mfido -m68881" fails, but
"-mfidoa -m68881" works. So the bug is completely invalid. My apologies.
We can discuss the GCC issue in a more appropriate forum...
