Subject: RE: ld fails to build

Hi

After my posturizing was complete, I found that I could use the existing
vxworks.em if I expanded the a-z A-Z after the "tr" pipe with the entire
alphabet. Now it should work for all vxworks targets. My bash seemed to
bash the simplistic a-z construct. It only converted any letter "a" in
$override to the capital A.

Hi,

Tony, thanks for your help.

I am using an old version of bash 2.95, I believe, which may be a
problem. I am not a bash expert. Unless my management tells me to
upgrade to the latest version to see if that is the reason the last "for
loop" in the vxworks.em file is not executing properly, I decided to
simplify the vxworks.em code. It may not work for other targets using
vxworks, but it did seem to work with our powerpc-wrs-vxworks. I believe
this is the only vxworks target for which I can build a gcc cross
compiler. I got the make check tests to pass.

I never realized there was a gnu grep. We use Sun's grep which doesn't
recognize the q option. Soon there will be a gnu Coke machine or maybe
even gnu pasta.

This is the first time in many years I have used a gnu product. I have
never been a fan. If I ever encounter a gnu "rm", I would recommend my
management reverse the words from our products.

But anyway, thank you again and Happy New Year.

The structure contains a reference to gldelf32ppcvxworks_before_parse
instead.

------- Additional Comments From amodra at bigpond dot net dot au
2009-12-22 02:10 ------- This must be a host issue because I can
certainly cross-compile a powerpc-wrs-vxworks binutils-2.20. I suspect
your shell may not like the shell commands near the end of vxworks.em.
Building under bash will likely avoid the problem, but if you can,
please investigate why your eelf32ppcvxworks.c lacks a reference to
vxworks_before_parse in ld_elf32ppcvxworks_emulation
