Thanks Ian.
I think there is still an issue with the handling of -r. The gold will report an
error if it encounters a shared object and will not continue searching for the
static archive.
For example:
$ cat t.c
int t() { }
$ gcc -shared -o libfoo.so t.c
$ gcc t.c -c
$ ar rc libfoo.a t.o
$ ./ld-new -L. -lfoo -r
./ld-new: fatal error: cannot mix -r with dynamic object ./libfoo.so
