and again: Using gcc-4.1.2, build of binutils-2.17 also fails in gas/read.c due to -Werror warning:
/build/binutils-2.17/gas/read.c: In function 's_comm_internal': /build/binutils-2.17/gas/read.c:1426: warning: 'stopc' may be used uninitialized in this function
Please may I recommend that you switch to using the latest sources from the mainline of the binutils CVS repository ? This bug was fixed last year (after the release of the 2.17 sources).
