No, you can't possibly change it, since I discovered this ability I've
been using it in every one of my bash scripts so I can do something utterly
mesningless, that nothing ever said I could do, but I can do, and so I
inisist I must be able to do.

If you even consider removing this feature (which is what it must be, because
it exists and works) I will complain, throw a tantrum, and generally make an
utter nuisance of myself until you give up and simply leave things alone
because you're too tired of arguing to bother any more.
