Suspect Andreas' reply may be more insightful, but was able to reproduce this in a fresh Debian stable chroot too, created with debootstrap. root@debian-stable:~/bash-5.2-beta# /usr/local/bin/bash -c "compgen -c -X a" Segmentation fault (core dumped)
