Apply the first two patches, then look at http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-bash/2019-02/msg00151.html for an explanation of the behavior. There is a patch in http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-bash/2019-03/msg00042.html that will fix this.
