Sorry for the incomplete message! Then , we can also have ls -a print out (parts of) these summaries whenever available depending upon some option passed to ls. I tried to achieve this for myself by creating a bash function, but that (naturally) goes into infinite recursion and is not a very neat way to do it IMHO. This is just a proposal and if many people like it, I'm ready to work on it :)
