Thanks, that seemed to do the trick. I made the change you suggested, did "make clean" in .../lib/readline, then "make", then "../../make" and it linked correctly. "make check" seemed OK with a few odd messages like
warning: ..." You could try adding -DNEED_EXTERN_PC to the value of the LOCAL_CFLAGS variable in lib/readline/Makefile and remaking terminal.o. This changes how PC is declared. Then relink and see if that fixes the problem.
