The next major version of Automake will generate recipes that will build non-split info files *unconditionally* (see automake bug#13351 <http://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=13351>, in particular patch <http://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=13351#19>, committed to the Automake repository as v1.13.1-60-gcdba479).
