And it's super confusing. I have seen many people install BOINC on Linux and then try to attach a project with "boinc --attach_project", which will either fail and give strange errors due to multiple client instances (especially if using a distro package that auto-starts the client after installation and on boot), or succeed and make a mess out of whatever directory they ran it from, usually their home directory. I would remove those options entirely.
