I do believe that is a browser setting.

For instance, Internet Explorer has two different advanced settings dealing 
with warning/blocking mixed protocol content.

Any images that use HTTPS in their URL do not show in the BOINC forums. The 
image URL needs HTTP at the moment to work correctly.
