It appears that Seti Users as one of the largest populations have the most social issues. Many projects do not have moderators but still have to deal with the two issues I am going to list. In all cases Forum Administrators or Project Administrators receive email notifications and can over turn the result if desired. In cases where the project does not have moderators, it allows the Project Administrator, to click a single button and take care of an abusive user. Both should only require small modifications to the existing moderation code.
Two items The moderators at Seti, appear to get more commercial spammers than most projects. It would be nice that the moderation PHP could be expanded for specific cases. The addition of a button "Spammer." When the Ban vote is started, to set it as Permanent Ban. The User receives a message to the effect; Posting URL's to commercial sites in the forum(s) is against the acceptable use policy for this project. Had you taken time to connect computers and participate in the project, a Moderator/Admin would have informed you of the acceptable location to place the link to your commercial site. The next one is also result of Seti Users that sometimes need to be told to sit down and take a breath. It would be the addition of a button for "Time Out." The mechanics for this one would be the start of a Ban Vote with no other response required. This would result in the normal "6 hour timeout" as if the Ban vote had failed. The User receives a message to the effect; Your posting in the current forum(s) has become abusive. For this reason we are giving you a small amount of time to consider what might be a better course of action in the future.
