Hi Google Team,

we’re integrating passkey verification on Android and have a question
regarding device-bound (local) passkeys created in mobile Chrome.

Issue summary:

   *
   A passkey is created on Android in mobile Chrome.
   *
   The passkey is stored locally on the device (device-bound).
   *
   When trying to use this passkey in our Android app on the same device, it
   is not discoverable.

Observed difference:

   *
   Synced / remote passkeys are visible to Google Password Manager and are
   passed to web/app flows.
   *
   Device-bound passkeys are not visible to Google Password Manager and are
   not passed to the website or our app for verification.

Is there any supported way for a registered app / browser to access or
verify device-bound passkeys created in mobile Chrome on the same device?

Thanks a lot for any guidance — we’re happy to adjust our integration if
there’s a recommended approach.

Best regards,

Martin Zarecky
