Hi Dan, I too am interested in streaming media from my computer or my internet connection to my computer. I am a bit further behind in that I need a decent TV to receive the signal. I have heard good things about the Roku box and I think it will do some of what you want to do. It basically is a small computer that sends data over WIFI to your TV. This device is about $100. It is also possible to download movies from NetFlicks.
