There are ?tens/hundreds? of patches in BLFS and none of them have any explanation in the book as the explanation is in the header of the patch. Patches are text files that should have the explanation you are looking for embedded in the patch. As far as your previous message goes, I do not really understand what you are asking. Video4Linux is a dependency of many other packages in BLFS.
