Hi all

Just started to build openldap 2.4.47 and it seems that there are quite some "interesting" changes:

- There is no slapd in /usr/sbin/ anymore, it is instead in /usr/lib
- All slap.. stuff in /usr/sbin now link to ../lib/slapd

Therefore, the init scriptm which expects /usr/sbin/slapd won't work anymore. I got around this by simply adding

ln -sf ../lib/slapd $DESTDIR/usr/sbin/slapd

after "make install". The server then seems to start well.

samba using ldap seems to need to be recompiled after the ldap upgrade, as it otherwise complains about some missing version information in the libraries. I have commpiled samba 4.9.4 against it, this seems to work fine.

cups-filters also seems to need a re-compile, due to the same

/usr/lib/libldap-2.4.so.2: no version information available

php, apache, exim and dovecot don't seem to be affected.

Althought I'm quite used to openldap introducing incompatible changes at will, I never had these problems before.

Has anybody got some more informations on this?

Bye
Tim
