Hello,

As reported earlier, I am not able to recompile
sendmail-8.15.2.

It is not fully proved but I have strong indication
it is caused by openssl-1.1.[0i,1]

Looking about this, I noticed
LFS is openssl-1.1.1
BLFS is openssl-1.0.2p
(LFS 2018-11-09, BLFS 2018-11-13)

Is this done on purpose? (I am doubtful about
it)

Trouble ahead compiling sendmail (and other?)
using opessl-1.1.1?

Comments?, something I am overlooking?

Here is a patch I've used with Sendmail 8.15.2 over a year ago. This
uses OpenSSL 1.1.0

Many thanks, (it is most appreciated)
but my "policy" is to avoid "messing" with upstream code.

Found sendmail-8.16.

Delta with book directives is very minimal.

APPENDDEF(`confENVDEF',`-DSTARTTLS -DSASL -DLDAPMAP')
APPENDDEF(`confLIBS', `-lssl -lcrypto -lsasl2 -lldap -llber -ldb -lresolv')
APPENDDEF(`confINCDIRS', `-I/usr/include/sasl')

(adding -lresolv)

It is compiling and installing, but I can't say
it working or not (my build-chaine is in total shamble
and need to be re-etablished).

Found s-nail, which could be good enough to replace
mailx, it is compiling and installing too.
Too early to propose/push a switch to Bruce.
(mailx project seems to be dead and I am not expecting
 openssl-1.1 compatibility anytime soon).
