Yes, almost all fixed. The links are now all on the left at the
window size I was using - Next, where provided¹, is on the right if I
maximize. And if I reduce the window height the jigsaw-puzzle
penguin disappears and the ^ [Home] < > close up so that part is
fine.

But from glibc in chapter 6 the last line of the Next link is still
feint - I have '>', 'Next' in green, 'Adjusting the' lighter than I
would like but not a problem for the link, 'Toolchain' feint and it
would be hard to read if I didn't know what it said.

I can live with this in LFS but for BLFS I would prefer the links to
be bolder if they split lines. I also wonder how *long* Prev/Next
BLFS links such as 'reiserfsprogs-3.6.24', or 'About Logical Volume
Management (LVM)' will be handled ?

Also (for BLFS), some of our initial paragraphs might make the
(narrow) box containing the introductory comments for a package
rather long. Finally, when the links are all on the left I have a
similar amount of empty space on the right.

My current firefox window is about 31.5cm wide inside the borders
and scroll bar. In current BLFS package pages, any headings are
0.8cm in from the left, and text / commands / kernel config options
have a 1.5cm margin on each side.

In the same window with new-style LFS everything in the text has
5.2cm margins (2 inches) on each side, and the left margin is used
for navigation but the right margin is empty. If I temporarily make
it full screen, the text portion maxes out at about 21cm wide, with
margins just over 7cm wide. For LFS, the waste of space is not a
problem - but for BLFS it will be vey annoying. At least I have my
screens' brightnesses adjusted so that all the white does not dazzle
me ;-)

[1.] I had not realised that 'Next' from the LFS index page only
goes forward.
