Hello Ontario Birders. There have been some excellent species reported in Ontario since the last update of the 2009/10 Ontario Winter List. With the Boreal Owl at Amherst Island all the owl species have now been seen. As have all the regular gull species with the reports of Mew Gull and Black-legged Kittiwake at Niagara Falls, except for Sabine's Gull. The Yellow-billed Loon at Sault Ste. Marie, while it did not last long, drifted over into Canadian waters a couple times so that it could be added to the Ontario List. With that we are now at 185 species for the winter season with almost 7 weeks to go.
The update will be on the website http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/maybank/other/onwinter.htm probably by tomorrow. I will send out the next update in 2 weeks. In the meantime, if anyone has had a sighting of an Eastern Phoebe, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Brewer's Blackbird or Hoary Redpoll that I might have missed please e-mail me personally and let me know.
