No hurricane waifs off Port Bruce or Port Stanley or on the beaches or piers this morning between 0830 and 1330 but a steady flight of Bonaparte's Gulls and Common Terns moving from east to west along the shoreline brought along a hatch year Sabine's Gull and 2 adult Little Gulls at different times. Other birds of interest were 2 migrant Osprey and 2 basic plumaged Common Loons [likely birds summering on Lake Erie].

There was also a fairly large migration of Monarch butterflies which increased throughout the morning. At Port Stanley at 1245 we did a 5 minute count of all the obviously migrating Monarchs powering by us at the end of the pier and came up with 20 [i.e. 240/hr].

Port Bruce and Port Stanley are on the Lake Erie shoreline in Elgin County. Port Bruce is at the lake end of Hwy 73 south of Aylmer. Port Stanley is south of St Thomas. There are various viewing spots along the lake front at both locations.
