Darlington Provincial Park Dec 30 2004 2 Great Gray Owls near the boat ramp at the western side of the park. 4 Great Horned Owls: 3 in the campground and 1 in the center of the park. There are several trees around the park decorated with bits of rabbit.
9 White-winged Crossbills foraging in the European Larch in the se corner of the campground. 2 female Purple Finches with a small flock of House Finches 45 Common Redpolls and 50+ American goldfinches. There appears to be a small cone crop in the park consisting of European Larch, White Pine and Norway Spruce. 1 adult Bald Eagle flew west along the lakeshore flushing all the waterfowl and gulls up. 2 Northern Mockingbirds in the western end of the park. 1 Eastern Bluebird in the picnic area just east of the park office. 8 Golden-crowned Kinglets foraging with the various chickadee flocks. Directions 401 east of Oshawa exit at highway exit 425 and follow the park signs into the park. The Great Gray Owls are south west from the Office parking lot. The crossbills are to the south east from the same parking lot. Tyler Hoar
