Between 0830 & 0930 Don Burton and I had some very good non-raptors along the path to the Cranberry platform--incl. 6 Wilson's Warblers, Nashville W., Yellow W., C.Yellowthroat, Am.Redstart, Red-eyed Vireo, VEERY, Baltimore Oriole, several Chickadees (not noticed here for several days), Great Crested Flycatcher, and near the platform were as many as 40 Hummingbirds. A SORA was heard with its descending whinney. Overhead Chimney Swifts abounded.
Not a good raptor day--there being only 2 resident Harriers, a "local" female Cooper's, and 3 migrating Sharp-shinned over the morning hours. I have a new copy of Newcomb's Wildflower Guide--I would sell it for $30, all of it going to the Thickson's Land Trust to help purchase the meadow. IT IS AN EXCELLENT FUN WAY TO LEARN THE WILDFLOWERS. Cranberry Marsh is at the south end of Hall's Rd., it being 1 block east of Lakeridge Rd. off Bayly/Victoria St. in southwest Whitby.
