I am seeing strange behavior when I try to create a new publication from a
bibtex item in the clipboard.
I pick up the item, usually from MathSciNet, and occasionally from other sites.
Using the shortcut OPT-CMD-L, I normally will see a new pub entered in the main
window, and an “index window” pops up containing the details from the clipboard.
However, occasionally, this does not work, as far I am able to tell, from
observing what’s happening on the screen (which is no change: no new entry, no
additional window appearing).
At first I would try again, and again. eventually, thinking BibDesk was
borked, I would quit and restart.
To my surprise, the previous attempts had actually worked, and there were new
entries (one for each attempt with the short-cut above). I would delete them
all, and try again, this time with success.
I normally can’t get useful information from the Console Log, but I took a
quick snapshot around the time this happened. I am attaching this at the end.
FWIW, this behavior is now quite repeatable, although I can’t “make” it happen.
It seems that, if it happens with previous versions, it was very infrequent.
I am up-to-date, with version 1.8.6.
Thoughts?
