OMG! I just came up with the name of my next cluster... Curmudgeon! No one else take it. I called it!

Anyone else feeling like Abe Simpson right now?

“I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!

-- Abe Simpson.

Of course, if we were talking in Slack, I could just post a meme image of Abe Simpson with the that text overlaid on it like the cool kids do, or I could have cut-and-pasted it into this e-mail, but something tells me that if your still in favor of mailing lists, you're probably reading this e-mail on a console-based e-mail client. ;)

At least I'm "with it" enough to use Thunderbird.

Ugh. I hate Slack and those other "instant message" apps for stuff
like this. My employer pays me to do work, not spend all day
watching messages scroll by in a chat session. And those apps

    details and nuance suffer.

Am I becoming an grumpy old curmudgeon, stuck in his ways and wary

+1

All Slack channels that people started here for various interest groups,
died quickly, or dwindled into dispersive "tete-a-tete" conversations between very few individuals. [Instead of using an IRC with bells and whistles, they might as well email each other. :) ] As Prentice pointed out, most people just don't have the time to follow those too many channels.

Mailing lists are simple, effective, normally have a wider range of interests, and reach out to a larger community.
[And don't belong to Slack / Saalesforce, or any other company.]
