Well, just a few days ago a colleague posted this link https://www.xing.com/news/insiders/articles/recruiting-tipp-warum-wir-dringend-die-qualifikationsanforderungen-uberdenken-mussen-2144954 (unfortunately in German), which explains that companies are missing a lot of candidates because they are fixed on the academic degree. The author is convinced that there are a lot of candidates but they might not fit the STEM degree cliche.
