I should just point out that on our 4 year old Intel P4 cluster we run CentOS5 with the kernels out of the CentOS Plus repository (to get decent filesystem support) and on our SLES9 Power5 cluster we run the packaged kernel (as upgrading to a current version is far too much of a leap). Also on our NFS servers we run Debian Etch with the packaged kernel (which works very well for us). cheers, Chris -- Christopher Samuel - (03) 9925 4751 - Systems Manager The Victorian Partnership for Advanced Computing P.O.
