FWIW2: (and not a sun shill here) Studio 11 is *free*. Doesn't seem to
generate as good (e.g. fast) code for linux as its commercial
competitors under linux (nor for that matter is the code it generates
under Solaris as fast as the code other compilers generate under Linux,
at least for my test cases)
How comprehensive is the implementation of each element of Forte 11 (esp
FORTRAN)?
Don't know, haven't used it extensively for codes. Tried their C/C++
compiler. Took quite a bit of effort to get it to work with the
autoconf/gnu toolchain. Almost gave up (e.g. it wasn't worth the effort
anyway). GCC gave about the same performance in some cases, and about
20% less in others.
