I might be missing something, but it seems like the DRI is only available together with X. That's why I'm specifically interested if you know how to make /dev/dri appear in non-X environment. On the other hand, I made all my exercises as root, and I've just figured out, though, that I don't have /dev/drm either, even though kernel reports it was initialized in my system: Sep 23 10:15:24 srv1204 kernel: [ 0.879802] [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810 That's what I'm going to dig next.
