These are not subroutine prototypes. You are calling each one of
those four subroutines. I can only assume what you *meant* to do was
to *declare* those subroutines:
sub join_proj;
sub rebase;
sub deliver;
sub quit;

Yes. Perl can. You should ask it (specifically, the standard
documentation that comes with it) for help:
$ perldoc -q document
